Petrichor refers to the characteristic scent released after rainfall, particularly following a dry period. It is caused by a combination of plant oils and airborne compounds produced by soil-dwelling bacteria, which are dispersed into the air by raindrops. This work explores petrichor as a sensory indicator of environmental transition, highlighting the interaction between soil, water, and renewed biological activity.
